With an early morning pickup (before 7:00am) from your Gold Coast hotel, you’ll travel in comfort through the amazing scenic landscape between the Gold Coast and Australia Zoo. The Glasshouse Mountains are particularly beautiful, so don’t forget to take a few pictures on your journey.
Upon arrival at Australia Zoo, you’ll be amazed at the number of attractions and activities available within. The zoo is home to over 1,200 animals and you can interact with many of them. From cuddling koalas to feeding kangaroos, getting a happy snap with a baby alligator or feeding an elephant. You’ll interact with wombats, snakes, tigers and more – there’s plenty of opportunity to get close and cuddly with a variety of amazing wildlife.
Ever wanted to visit Africa? Well, after experiencing the African Savannah at Australia Zoo, you may feel as though you’ve done just that! The Savannah is home to zebras, rhino and giraffe, all roaming free and happy. You can even get up close to a cheetah, as they are led around the zoo on their daily walk.
The Crocoseum allows you to see and learn about crocodiles, snakes and birds in a live presentation. See beautiful and colourful birds fly free then return to their handlers while you learn about each species. Watch in amazement as a snake handler holds dangerous yet beautiful snakes as though they were puppies, and hold your breath as crocodiles launch from the water only metres from the presenter.
There is such a diversity of animal encounters at Australia Zoo, with its gorgeous gardens and manicured grounds it is such a pleasure to walk around it.
Be sure to visit the Wildlife Hospital. You’ll see how this world class facility helps sick and injured animals, all day (and night), every day. As Australia’s largest animal hospital, the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital treats around 8,000 Aussie native animals every year, from kangaroos and koalas to birds, turtles, frogs and other animals. Your $2 entry fee contributes to the running of the hospital.
After your day full of animal adventures and learning opportunities, you head back to the Gold Coast arriving from 6:30pm onwards.
